Bichanakandi, Sylhet, Bangladesh

Bichanakandi is a scenic village in Gowainghat Upazila of Sylhet Division .The main attractions are the crystal clear water and pebbles of the mountain river Piyain and the spellbinding view of the Khasi hills of Sylhet and Indian state Meghalaya bordering the place.

To reach there:

There are direct flights from Dhaka to Sylhet. You need to stay in Sylhet town and hire a car to reach Hadarpur via airport road.Once you reach several boats can be seen to take you for a bichanakandi round trip.Boats will drop you and get you back ;so you will have 2-3 hours to spend quality time by relaxing, enjoying the view and taking pictures.(keep the boatman’s cell phone number to find the boat when you are ready to head back as the place gets too crowded).

Hiring a car is easy from any hotel you stay and cost ranges between 3000bdt-5000bdt.

Reserve Boat from Hadarpur -Bichanakandi-Hadarpur costs 1500bdt-2000bdt depending on which one you choose and how many people you travel with.

Traditional bengali food can be found there, which tastes good and is cheap but not suitable for those who aren’t ready to experiment. If you’re not Bangladeshi then it’s better to avoid local food for digestion issues.

The place is safe and you need to plan a day before you travel.Trip must be made in daylight hours as Bichanakandi lies in the border of India and Bangladesh, it’s highly recommended to return before dusk.

From Bichanakandi you can visit Pangthumai water falls as well in the same boat by paying a little extra, but I couldn’t manage time to make it.

Best time to visit is from May-September
